This lovely shawl looks very complicated, but just uses a mix of yarn over and slip stitch. It includes an explanation of the Russian cast-off (though you can use any cast-off style you prefer). We offer the kit with circular or standard 4mm needles, but it is of course knitted as a single flat panel. The shawl uses Fair Trade Manos del Uruguay Alegria superwash yarn.

Kit includes:
  • Cotton alpaca project bag
  • 1 x 100g hank (425m/445 yds) Manos Del Uruguay Alegria (75% superwash Merino/25% Polyamide)
  • Shown in #8106 Botanico
  • Optional Extra: 4mm needles (we offer straight of circular)

Size: Length 143cm | Width 40cm (width with points 44cm)

Sustainable Fashion Story

Alpaca yarn is naturally wrinkle-resistant, eliminating the need for ironing and reducing energy consumption. This helps lower carbon emissions, with ironing estimated to produce 190 kg of CO₂ per person annually.

Unlike sheep and goats, alpacas graze sustainably by trimming grass instead of uprooting it. This allows the grass to regrow naturally, preserving the soil and supporting healthy ecosystems.
