The stitch design is easy to follow, and we have included a How To Video to assist any beginners. The cowl is from our Restful range, which is intended for stress-free easy knitting that means you can focus on the conversation, the movie or just whatever you need to be thinking about. Each pattern is simple to work with, and has been tested on beginners, rusty knitters, and the very accomplished. Everyone reports that the yarn is fabulous soft and lovely to work with and all the feedback is that the styles are very restful to knit, and lovely to wear!

As with all Gorgeous alpaca DK kits, it's warm and cosy, but lightweight and breathes well. The alpaca yarn has a small amount of 100% natural sheep's wool blended in, which makes it easy to knit and crochet with, and still retains that wonderful alpaca softness.

What's so great about alpaca yarn? 

Alpaca yarn is highly valued for it's softness, warmth, and durability.

Let's compare it to sheep's wool

    • The fibres are much finer, and generally longer, than sheep’s wool, which makes them softer and less itchy
    • It contains no lanolin which makes it hypo-allergenic (and also makes it more sustainable as it can be processed at very low temperatures)
    • It also has a natural sheen that gives finished items a luxurious look
    • Both sheep and alpaca fleece is water-repellent, but alpaca also wicks away the moisture

Tension 21 sts x 27 rows= 4"/10cm over stocking stitch with 4.5mm (UK 7, US 7)

Hand washing: Use lukewarm water and a specialist wool detergent. Hair conditioner in the final rinse will add extra softness. When washing and rinsing squeeze the garment rather than rubbing. Gently squeeze out excess water before rolling in a towel. Lay flat to dry.

Washing machines: Modern machines with delicate programme at 20C using a wool delicate detergent. Can be spun at 400 RPM.
