This wonderful yarn was created in to provide jobs for women in their rural hometowns in Uruguay allowing them to provide for their families and be independent while staying in their home villages and keeping their roots and traditional skills. As a result of this, Manos was made a member of the World Fair Trade Organisation in 2009. They spin and dye their yarns in cooperatives located in the small towns in Uruguay's countryside.
Each Manos skein has a tag with the name of the artisan who made it and the cooperative location. They are hand dyed to produce a rich colour palette with the subtle irregularities which the hand of each artisan gives to it.

I bought two skeins of this gorgeous yarn to make two cowls-fingers crossed they are completed for Christmas. The yarn is so soft and the colours are perfect. They arrived quickly and beautifully packed. I’m so tempted to buy some more!! 🙂
This is a really lovely wool. It just slides along the needles when knitting and gives excellent stitch definition. I love the colours, also the weight and drape of finished garment .
Beautiful, soft, smooth, vibrant, ethical yarn Hard to get in the UK so great to see it at GA. Good price and swift delivery.
Really nice yarn, ideal for my purposes. Very fast delivery and great customer services. Thanks.
I am using this lovely yarn to make fingerless gloves, it's so soft and warm. I am delighted with it, looking forward to ordering some alpaca yarn next! Thank you, from Elisabeth Jean.

Frequently Asked Questions
Natural fibers are biodegradable and decompose naturally, unlike synthetic fibers, which take over 200 years to degrade. During this time, they contribute to landfill waste, release greenhouse gases, and leach toxic chemicals into the environment.
Alpaca material is stain-resistant, which means that it needs less washing and is less likely to get ruined by stains … and alpaca is stain-resistant without having chemicals and coatings added to it to make it so.
Sustainable Fashion Story
Alpaca yarn is naturally wrinkle-resistant, eliminating the need for ironing and reducing energy consumption. This helps lower carbon emissions, with ironing estimated to produce 190 kg of CO₂ per person annually.
Unlike sheep and goats, alpacas graze sustainably by trimming grass instead of uprooting it. This allows the grass to regrow naturally, preserving the soil and supporting healthy ecosystems.
