DK Alpaca Yarn
DK Alpaca Yarn
Our most popular lightweight DK alpaca wool sourced from British and Irish alpaca farms. It's gorgeous to knit and crochet with, as our many reviews can testify. The blend is 75% alpaca/25% sheep. No animals are hurt in the process, and indeed are happy to be sheared in late Spring every year.
What's so great about alpaca yarn?
Alpaca yarn is highly valued for it's softness, warmth, and durability.
Let's compare it to sheep's wool
- The fibres are much finer, and generally longer, than sheep’s wool, which makes them softer and less itchy
- It contains no lanolin which makes it hypo-allergenic (and also makes it more sustainable as it can be processed at very low temperatures)
- It also has a natural sheen that gives finished items a luxurious look
- Both sheep and alpaca fleece is water-repellent, but alpaca also wicks away the moisture

Quick service and lovely wool, really nice to knit with
quick service and such soft yarn to knit, with lots of colour choices.Just started third restful textured cowl and thinking of fingerless gloves next.
Quick and easy ordering. Yarn arrived and is so soft and lovely to knit with
I bought 2 balls of speckledy red to knit a hat, Kittiwake from Alice Starmore knitting book. Using 2.75 circular needles the hat knitted to size. Beautiful wool to knit with. I also bought the speckledy green wool to do the same. This really is a lovely subtle mixture
I’m a beginner knitter and chose the Regency Handwarmers as a starter. The wool is lovely to knit with, warm and soft and the finished article super. So much so I have decided to knit my 4 sisters a pair each for Christmas.
