These socks use special alpaca yarn sock yarn spun from the fleece of alpacas from UK farms. The kit includes the yarn, pattern, project bag, and stitch holder. You will also need 2.5mm double pointed needles, or 2.5mm circular needles. The yarn is 4ply weight, 75% pure British Alpaca and 25% nylon, and available in a range of colours, including two hand-dyed options. The hand-dyed options are slightly more expensive to reflect the work involved..
Sizes
This sock comes in 10 sizes:
Child (7-9, 9.5-10.5, 11-12, 12.5-13.5, 1-3.5)
Adult [5-6, 6.5-8.5, 9-9.5, 10-11, 11.5-13]
Finished leg circumference: (13, 14.5, 15.5, 17, 18.5) [20, 21.5, 23, 24.5, 25.5] cm
Finished foot length: Adjustable
Uses 2.5mm needles.
Kit includes:
- Cotton alpaca project bag, stitch marker
- 100g (400m) Gorgeous DK yarn made from 75% alpaca/25% sheep's wool
- Pattern for these socks
- Optional 2.5mm double pointed needles
As with all Gorgeous alpaca DK kits, the socks will be warm and cosy, but lightweight and breathes well. The alpaca yarn has a small amount of sock nylon blended in, which makes it easy to knit with, and still retains that wonderful alpaca softness.
The socks can be washed by hand or in a machine on a wool wash at 20 degrees.
