This is a straight forward hat, suitable for beginners - no ribbing, and only a simple decrease at the top, by which time you will be ready to learn a new technique, having mastered the main two knitting stitches, Knit and Purl. We have full How To Video instructions for this one. This style uses our beautifully soft alpaca/merino mix of yarn. Everyone loves how it is so soft, squishy and beautiful to knit with. Despite it's simplicity, it's also a really versatile hat: you can roll it up for a tight fit to the crown beanie-style, or roll it out for a long 2020s look!If you want it even longer, there is plenty of yarn left to keep going. It's very lightweight and very flexible so perfect for travelling.

This comes in the natural alpaca off-white. However, should you want a bright non-alpaca shade, like orange, pink or purple, it's ideal yarn for dying with vegetable dyes.

Uses our lovely Alpaca-Merino undyed aran-weight wool.

This is a lovely soft yarn that knits/crochets beautifully, made from 50% baby alpaca / 50% baby merino. 'Baby' alpaca does not mean that we stole the fleece from baby alpacas (crias); it's simply the term used to describe the finest micron fibre available. We mix it with the softest merino wool to give it good structure, stretch and the softest yarn you will fine.

Meterage  175m (191) yds) per 100g
Tension 18 sts 24 rows, in 10cm (4 in),over st st, using 5.5 mm needles
Mix 50g merino / 50g baby alpaca
Yarn weight Aran
Ball size 100g

Hand washing: Use lukewarm water and a specialist wool detergent. Hair conditioner in the final rinse will add extra softness. When washing and rinsing squeeze the garment rather than rubbing. Gently squeeze out excess water before rolling in a towel. Lay flat to dry.

Washing machines: Modern machines with delicate programme at 20C using a wool delicate detergent. Can be spun at 400 RPM.

Great to knit

This was the first time I've knitted with alpaca yarn ,it was beautiful and very soft, a great pattern and very easy to follow, I am an experienced knitter. The only thing I did differently was, I put 6 buttons on which was my mistake, still looks good. The service was excellent fast delivery, I liked the kit so much I've got a another different design, highly recommend
