This sweater uses five different stitch patterns (plus ribbing and garter stitch) and has a simple neck line finish. It is worked in the round from bottom up. The sampler sweater is available in the usual wide range of colours in our alpaca wool lightweight DK range, all sourced from British and Irish alpaca farms. Colours shown here are Wine and Mustard.

Size and Yarn Quantities
The design is intended to be well-fitted with a 5 - 10 cm positive ease, but the actual fitting is up to you. To choose your size and best fit, we recommend measuring your favourite jumper and using that size.
The kit includes:
- Cotton alpaca project bag
- Gorgeous DK wool made from 75% alpaca/25% sheep (225m per 100g) in quantity shown above for your size
- Pattern
- Optional - 4mm x 60 cm and 4.5mm circular needles x 80 cm
You will also need a stitch holder or spare yarn to hold live stitches on.

As with all Gorgeous alpaca DK kits, it's warm and cosy, but lightweight and breathes well. The alpaca yarn has a small amount of 100% natural sheep's wool blended in, which makes it easy to knit and crochet with, and still retains that wonderful alpaca softness.
What's so great about alpaca yarn?
Alpaca yarn is highly valued for it's softness, warmth, and durability.
Let's compare it to sheep's wool
- The fibres are much finer, and generally longer, than sheep’s wool, which makes them softer and less itchy
- It contains no lanolin which makes it hypo-allergenic (and also makes it more sustainable as it can be processed at very low temperatures)
- It also has a natural sheen that gives finished items a luxurious look
- Both sheep and alpaca fleece is water-repellent, but alpaca also wicks away the moisture

Hand washing: Use lukewarm water and a specialist wool detergent. Hair conditioner in the final rinse will add extra softness. When washing and rinsing squeeze the garment rather than rubbing. Gently squeeze out excess water before rolling in a towel. Lay flat to dry.
Washing machines: Modern machines with delicate programme at 20C using a wool delicate detergent. Can be spun at 400 RPM.
