As with all Gorgeous alpaca DK kits, it's warm and cosy, but lightweight and breathes well. The alpaca yarn has a small amount of 100% natural sheep's wool blended in, which makes it easy to knit and crochet with, and still retains that wonderful alpaca softness.

What's so great about alpaca yarn? 

Alpaca yarn is highly valued for it's softness, warmth, and durability.

Let's compare it to sheep's wool

    • The fibres are much finer, and generally longer, than sheep’s wool, which makes them softer and less itchy
    • It contains no lanolin which makes it hypo-allergenic (and also makes it more sustainable as it can be processed at very low temperatures)
    • It also has a natural sheen that gives finished items a luxurious look
    • Both sheep and alpaca fleece is water-repellent, but alpaca also wicks away the moisture

Hand washing: Use lukewarm water and a specialist wool detergent. Hair conditioner in the final rinse will add extra softness. When washing and rinsing squeeze the garment rather than rubbing. Gently squeeze out excess water before rolling in a towel. Lay flat to dry.

Washing machines: Modern machines with delicate programme at 20C using a wool delicate detergent. Can be spun at 400 RPM.

This order arrived quickly and very well packaged ,loved the alpaca bag very handy 👍🏻this yarn is lovely and soft and will be a joy to wear ,as yet not had time to start knitting as have a lot on at the moment ,but won’t be long hopefully,

Superb service, the wool is really lovely and a pleasure to work with. A great choice of colours. This is a nice easy pattern that does as it says, restful knitting. Love the bag it comes in too.
