Skill Level – Beginner
You can knit this hat in the round or as a flat panel. It is a straightforward pattern with no ribbing, and only a simple decrease at the end. New to knitting? You can learn how to cast on, knit and purl in our How To Videos.
To fit head (circumference): Small 48cm (19") – Medium 53cm (21") – Large 58cm (23")
Finished Length: 32cm (12.5") from cast on (or length to suit your preference).
Tension / Gauge: 21 sts × 27 rows = 10cm (4") over stocking stitch on 4.5mm needles (UK 7 / US 7) using Gorgeous Alpacas DK Superfine yarn.
Despite its simplicity, this is a really versatile hat: you can roll it up for a tight beanie-style fit to the crown, or roll it out for a long 2020s look! If you want it even longer, there is plenty of yarn left to keep going. It’s very lightweight and very flexible, so perfect for travelling.
